When choosing a Pilates reformer, space is often the deciding factor. If you are debating between a stationary unit or a space-saver, start by reading our guide on Folding vs Non-Folding Reformers. Home Pilates Space Planning
The 10ft x 12ft Room Layout
For a single home reformer, a 120 sq ft room is the "Goldilocks" zone. It provides enough space for a full-size 103" reformer, proper door clearance, and room for side-lying exercises and long-box movements.
Working with a tighter space? You don't have to sacrifice quality for square footage. The Align-Pilates® F3 Folding Reformer is an industry favorite. You can also explore the Elina Foldable Reformer or the Elina Vertical Reformer, both of which allow you to reclaim your floor space in seconds.

Commercial & Studio Planning
The Duo Private Studio (400 sq ft)
Ideal for physical therapy or private duet sessions. This footprint allows for two units like the MVE® Reformer and Tower, a compact welcome area, and a restroom while maintaining professional safety clearances.

The Boutique Group Studio (1,000 sq ft)
For a 6-reformer setup, we recommend a 1,000 sq ft footprint. This ensures instructors have 360-degree access for hands-on corrections. Not sure which model fits? Check out our guide: Which Reformer Is Right For Me?
